Fluoridegehalten refers to the concentration of fluoride ions present in a substance or environment. This term is most commonly associated with drinking water, where fluoride is intentionally added in many regions as a public health measure to prevent tooth decay. The optimal fluoride concentration in drinking water is typically around 0.7 milligrams per liter, although this can vary depending on recommendations from health authorities.

Beyond water, fluoridegehalten is also relevant in toothpaste, where it plays a crucial role in strengthening tooth enamel and making it more resistant to acid attacks. The concentration of fluoride in toothpaste is usually much higher than in drinking water and is clearly indicated on the product packaging.
