Flottörsystem

A flottörsystem, often translated as a float system or float valve, is a mechanical device used to automatically control the level of a liquid in a container. Its operation relies on the buoyancy of a float. As the liquid level rises, the float also rises. This movement is typically transmitted through a lever arm to a valve. When the liquid reaches a predetermined high level, the float's upward movement causes the lever to open or close the valve, thus regulating the inflow or outflow of the liquid. Conversely, as the liquid level drops, the float descends, and the lever mechanism adjusts the valve to allow more liquid in or out, maintaining the desired level.

Flottörsystem are commonly found in various applications, including toilet cisterns where they regulate the water level after flushing, industrial tanks for storing chemicals or water, and in fuel systems of internal combustion engines to maintain a consistent fuel supply to the carburetor. The design of a flottörsystem can vary depending on the specific requirements, such as the type of liquid, the pressure, and the required precision of level control. They are generally simple, reliable, and require little maintenance, making them a widely adopted solution for liquid level regulation.
