FlashPlugin
FlashPlugin is a software component that enables web browsers to run multimedia content and applications built with the Adobe Flash platform. It implements the Flash runtime, loading and executing SWF files embedded in web pages or delivered as standalone Flash applications. The plugin interoperates with browser rendering engines and provides APIs to access multimedia, graphics, and scripting via ActionScript.
Originally developed by Macromedia as the Flash Player, the plugin gained widespread use in the late 1990s
