Fireområdet is a fictional region in the northern part of Nordland, a kingdom used here for illustrative world-building. The name derives from the area’s historical lava fields and ancient metallurgical sites, rather than contemporary events. The region covers about 6,000 square kilometers, featuring a mix of coastal fjords, basalt plateaus, and extensive coniferous forests. The regional capital is Eldbyen, situated near the Fire Basin, a volcanic field that is regularly monitored for seismic activity.

Geography and environment describe the Fire Basin as a kneaded landscape of basaltic lava flows dating back thousands of years. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters, cool summers, and high precipitation. The region contains several protected areas and a network of hiking trails and lookout points. Waterways like Skolpar Creek form important watersheds supporting diverse flora and fauna, including pine and spruce forests and a variety of bird species.

Demographics and economy indicate a population of roughly 120,000, with urban centers in Eldbyen and a number of smaller seaside towns. The economy relies on tourism, forestry, light industry, and geothermal energy development. Cultural life centers on the annual Fire Festival, traditional copper and wood crafts, and local literary circles. Governance is organized as a regional council representing municipalities, with educational facilities that include two high schools and a university satellite campus focused on geology, forestry, and tourism management.
