Filtreerimembraane is a type of membrane used in filtration processes to separate particles, solutes, or other chemical species from a liquid or gas. These membranes are typically made from polymers such as cellulose acetate, polyethersulfone, or polyvinylidene fluoride, and are characterized by their porous structure. The pores in the membrane can range in size from nanometers to micrometers, allowing for the selective passage of certain substances while retaining others.

The primary function of a filtreerimembraane is to filter out unwanted particles or solutes from a mixture. This is achieved through a process called cross-flow filtration, where the feed solution flows parallel to the membrane surface, preventing the accumulation of rejected particles on the membrane. The filtered solution, known as the permeate, passes through the membrane, while the retained particles form a concentrate.
