Filtrationstyper

Filtrationstyper refers to the various methods and technologies used to separate solid particles from a fluid, which can be either a liquid or a gas. The choice of filtration type depends on several factors, including the size of the particles to be removed, the nature of the fluid, the required purity of the filtrate, and the volume of fluid to be processed.

Common filtration types include surface filtration, where particles are retained on the surface of the filter medium, and depth filtration, where particles are trapped within the porous structure of the medium. Surface filters are effective for removing larger, well-defined particles, while depth filters are better suited for capturing smaller or irregularly shaped particles and can handle higher solids loads.

Mechanisms of filtration include sieving, where particles larger than the pore size are physically blocked; inertial impaction, where particles deviate from the fluid flow and collide with filter fibers; interception, where particles following the fluid flow come into contact with a fiber; and diffusion, where small particles move randomly and encounter filter fibers. Adsorption also plays a role, where particles adhere to the filter medium due to chemical or physical forces.

Examples of filtration equipment include simple strainers, filter presses, cartridge filters, bag filters, and membrane filters. Membrane filtration, such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis, utilizes membranes with precise pore sizes to achieve very high levels of separation, often used in water purification and medical applications. Air filtration, commonly known as air purification, uses filters to remove particulate matter, allergens, and pollutants from the air in buildings and vehicles.
