Fiberglassgips

Fiberglassgips, or fiberglass-reinforced gypsum, is a composite building material that combines gypsum plaster with glass fibers to enhance strength and rigidity. The glass fibers are embedded in a gypsum matrix to create panels or boards intended for interior finishing, offering improved tensile and impact resistance while preserving the convenient working properties of gypsum.

The resulting material retains the non-combustible nature and easy machining typical of gypsum products, but with greater resistance to cracking, sagging, and edge damage. Depending on the formulation, fiberglassgips can also offer increased screw-holding capacity and, in certain variants, improved moisture or fire performance. Additives may be included to influence setting time, surface quality, or water resistance. Typical products are manufactured in board or panel formats and may be produced with different thicknesses for walls, ceilings, or partitions.

Manufacture involves dispersing glass fibers within a gypsum slurry or arranging fiber mats before plastering, followed by forming and curing into boards. Variants exist to address specific needs, such as moisture resistance for wet areas or enhanced fire ratings for safety-critical applications. Surface finishes are compatible with standard jointing and taping methods used in gypsum construction.

Applications of fiberglassgips include interior walls and ceilings, partitions, and other non-structural building components where a combination of light weight, ease of installation, and improved durability is desirable. Installation generally follows standard gypsum practices, using screws or nails, with joint treatment and finishing similar to conventional gypsum boards. Safety considerations focus on handling fibers during processing and ensuring proper ventilation and dust control.
