Fennelstalk

Fennelstalk refers to the edible stalks of the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare). These hollow, pale green to white stems extend from the fennel bulb and leaves and are valued for their crisp texture and subtle anise-like flavor. While most people use the bulb and fronds for their aroma, the stalks are also commonly eaten and cook evenly in a variety of preparations.

Description and cultivation: Fennel is a herbaceous plant native to the Mediterranean and widely grown in temperate regions. The stalks are harvested when the plant is mature or when the bulb forms; they can be used fresh or cooked. Outer stalks may be tougher and are often peeled or trimmed.
