Faselåsesløyfe refers to a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit that utilizes a phase detector, a loop filter, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). This circuit is designed to generate an output signal whose phase is locked to the phase of an input reference signal. The phase detector compares the phase of the input signal with the phase of the VCO's output signal. Any phase difference is then filtered by the loop filter, which smooths out the error signal. This filtered error signal is used to control the VCO, adjusting its frequency and phase until it matches the input signal.

PLLs are widely employed in various electronic applications. They are crucial for frequency synthesis, allowing for the generation of stable and precise frequencies from a single reference oscillator. This is essential in radio transmitters and receivers for tuning to different channels. PLLs are also used for clock recovery in digital communication systems, where they extract the timing information from a data stream.
