FMEAtä

FMEAtä is a fictional constructed language created for speculative fiction and collaborative art projects. Origins and name. The term FMEAtä is described in community notes as an acronym with no single agreed expansion, though fans often treat it as a mnemonic rather than a fixed phrase. The orthography emphasizes vowel distinction and consistent suffixation, which aids readability in short texts and songs associated with the project.

Phonology and grammar. FMEAtä features roughly 18 consonants and 8 vowels, including front rounded and back vowels, with a stress pattern commonly placed on the penultimate syllable. The language is largely suffixing and follows a subject–object–verb tendency in basic statements. Nouns carry case and number markers through suffixes, while verbs encode tense, aspect, mood, and evidentiality via affixes.

History and use. FMEAtä emerged in online language circles during the early 2010s as part of a broader conlanging movement. A small, volunteer community maintains a shared lexicon, grammar notes, and sample texts, including fables, songs, and role-playing content.
