FGF1

Fibroblast Growth Factor 1, also known as FGF1 or acidic FGF (aFGF), is a signaling protein belonging to the fibroblast growth factor family. This family of proteins plays crucial roles in a wide range of biological processes, including cell growth, differentiation, migration, and survival. FGF1 is an intracellular protein that can also be secreted and act as a paracrine or endocrine factor.

FGF1 is expressed in numerous tissues throughout the body and is particularly abundant in the brain, skin, and cartilage.
