Ezheva

Ezheva is a fictional village in the country of Veridia, created for illustrative world-building and narrative exercises. It is located in the Veridian highlands, along the Ezheva River, about 40 kilometers north of the regional capital Lormar. The surrounding landscape comprises mixed forests, small pastures, and patchwork fields.

The village is home to roughly 1,200 residents and is administered by a locally elected village council within Veridia’s municipal framework. The economy is diversified, with forestry, small-scale agriculture (potatoes and barley), and craft workshops. In recent decades Ezheva has seen modest growth in ecotourism, drawing visitors to its river scenery and traditional wooden architecture.

History in Ezheva dates back to at least the 14th century in regional records. The settlement endured floods and fires, with major rebuilding after a flood in the late 18th century. Rural modernization in the mid-20th century brought limited electrification and a nearby hydroelectric facility that supported local needs.

Landmarks include the Church of St. Nicholas (built 1863) and the Ezheva Windmill from the late 19th century. A small ethnographic museum, the Ezheva Center for River Culture, preserves local crafts and history.

Culture and transportation revolve around river-based crafts and seasonal rituals, including the annual Ezheva Days festival in late summer. The population speaks Veridian with a distinct local dialect. Transportation links include a regional bus service; the village previously had a rail connection until 1982. The nearest international airport is in Lormar, about 120 kilometers away.

Education consists of a primary school in the village, with secondary education typically pursued in nearby towns.
