Eurocodesviitekehyksessä refers to the reference framework for Eurocodes, the European standards for structural design and construction. The framework provides a common language and methodology for architects, engineers, and construction professionals across the European Union. It is based on the principle of creating a single set of design rules that replace multiple national design codes, thereby ensuring compatibility and consistency of structural performance assessment.

The Eurocodes are organised into seven families. Family A covers basic design provisions, Family B deals with environmental actions, Family C addresses active actions, Family D covers durability, Family E covers structural performance, Family F concerns fire resistance, and Family G focuses on extension and specific structural systems. Each family contains one or more separate codes which provide detailed rules for materials, dimensions, and safety factors.

Eurocodesviitekehyksessä also defines a decision‑making process that allows member states to adopt, amend, or rescind specific provisions while maintaining overall coherence. The objective is to encourage harmonisation of engineering practice, reduce project costs and timelines, and increase safety across the market. Members may implement the codes directly or use “adopted” European standards with national technical amendments.

The framework is supported by an extensive interpretation workpackage, which contains guidance documents, calculation examples, and a shared knowledge base. Its implementation has been gradual, with many jurisdictions still in the experimental or transitional phases. Ongoing efforts focus on improving user friendliness, particularly through software integration and cross‑reference tools, which aim to streamline the design workflow for practitioners using Eurocodes.
