Etuj

Etuj is a small archipelago nation located in the southern seas. Covering roughly 2,800 square kilometers, it consists of five main islands and a number of smaller islets. The population is about 420,000. The capital and largest city is Lores. The official language is Etujan, with English widely taught and used in trade and administration.

Geography and climate: Etuj lies in a tropical maritime zone with a warm, humid climate and pronounced monsoon seasons. The islands are of volcanic origin, featuring lush rainforests, mangroves, and extensive coral reefs that surround coastal areas.

History: The region was settled by the Naru people around the early second millennium. Contact with external traders began in the 16th century, followed by coastal kingdoms and later colonial influence. Etuj achieved independence in 1962 and established a constitutional framework in the 1970s. It joined a regional trade bloc in 1985 and maintains diplomatic relations with neighboring states.

Politics and government: Etuj operates as a parliamentary democracy with a largely ceremonial president and a prime minister who heads the government. Members of parliament are elected for four-year terms. The judiciary is independent, with a supreme court at its apex.

Economy and society: The economy centers on sustainable tourism, artisanal fisheries, and light manufacturing. Renewable energy projects, especially tidal and solar, are expanding. The education system has high literacy rates, and health indicators meet regional averages. Ethnic and linguistic diversity is reflected in cultural festivals and cuisine.
