Eristeille

Eristeille is a Finnish grammatical form used in technical contexts to refer to insulation materials. The root eriste denotes an insulating material, and eristeille is the plural allative form used to indicate materials intended for insulation or spaces receiving insulation. In construction documentation, phrases such as eristeille tarkoitetut materiaalit (materials intended for insulation) are common.

Insulation materials are used to limit heat transfer between a building's interior and exterior, contributing to energy efficiency, comfort, and moisture control. Their effectiveness is usually expressed in terms of thermal resistance (R-value) or thermal transmittance (U-value).

Common types include mineral wool, polystyrene (expanded EPS and extruded XPS), polyurethane foams, cellulose, and natural fibers. Life cycle assessment and responsible procurement are increasingly emphasized in procurement and construction practice.
