Erialane

Erialane is a fictional coastal nation in the northern temperate zone, created for world-building and storytelling. It includes a mainland region and several offshore isles, with the capital at Liora. The population is about 2.3 million; Erialan is the official language.

It features a rugged coastline, fjord-like inlets, and a hilly interior. The climate is maritime, with mild temperatures and frequent rain, supporting forests and agriculture.

The name Erialane derives from Old Erialan roots meaning "edge of dawn" or "shore of light."

Early Erialane formed through alliances among coastal cities in the medieval era. It gained formal independence in the 19th century and adopted a constitutional framework in the mid-20th century. Since then, it has pursued regional ties and economic diversification.

Erialane operates as a parliamentary republic. The President serves as head of state; the Prime Minister leads government and cabinet. A unicameral National Assembly and an independent judiciary govern the state, with seven administrative cantons.

Its economy is diversified: fisheries, timber, shipbuilding, tourism, and renewables such as wind and tidal energy. The Erian currency is the erg; major trade partners lie within the Meridian Association and nearby regions.

Erialane practices secular governance with religious pluralism. Erialan and Common are official languages; education is compulsory and literacy high. The annual Dawn Festival celebrates local history and sea life.

Prominent sites include Mistmere Forest, Mount Vesper, and Port Liora, a busy harbor and administrative center.
