Eraspecific

Eraspecific is an adjective used to describe something that is tied to or characteristic of a particular historical era. In scholarly contexts, eraspecific elements are those whose relevance or validity is limited to the time period they pertain to, and may be misleading if applied outside that era. The term is formed from era and specific; it is often written as era-specific or eraspecific, with hyphenation common in prose and branding uses.

In historiography and archival science, eraspecific data or interpretations emphasize the temporally bounded nature of evidence and context. In digital media and game design, eraspecific assets are those designed to be authentic to a given period—clothing, architecture, language, and technology.

Examples include a dataset labeled eraspecific to the 1960s that captures context, events, and conditions unique to that decade; a role-playing game that offers eraspecific outfits and props for a Victorian setting; and a museum exhibit that presents eraspecific captions to reflect the period's perspective.
