For instance, an epithelial defect on the cornea of the eye can significantly affect vision and cause discomfort. In the gastrointestinal tract, such defects can lead to ulcers, inflammation, and malabsorption. However, chronic or severe defects may require medical intervention to promote healing and prevent complications.
