Endoscópica

Endoscópica refers to a medical procedure that uses an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera, to examine the inside of a body cavity or organ. The term itself, "endoscópica," is derived from the Greek words "endon" meaning "within" and "skopein" meaning "to look." This minimally invasive technique allows physicians to visualize internal structures, diagnose various conditions, and in some cases, perform therapeutic interventions.

The endoscope is typically inserted through a natural opening, such as the mouth, anus, or urethra, or through a small incision. The camera at the tip of the endoscope transmits images to a monitor, providing a clear view of the internal lining. Depending on the area being examined, different types of endoscopies are performed. For instance, a gastroscopy examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, while a colonoscopy visualizes the large intestine. Bronchoscopy is used to inspect the airways, and cystoscopy examines the bladder.

Endoscopies are invaluable diagnostic tools for identifying a wide range of ailments, including inflammation, ulcers, polyps, tumors, and bleeding. Beyond diagnosis, endoscopes can be equipped with specialized instruments to perform biopsies, remove polyps, stop bleeding, or dilate narrowed passages. The procedure generally requires minimal recovery time, making it a preferred method for many internal examinations.
