In localization and multimedia production it could help preserve or adapt emphasis when texts are translated or presented across different formats, such as captions, audio descriptions, or graphical interfaces.

Notation and usage are not standardized, but emphasisfor could take forms in markup or data annotations. Possible representations include an attribute or tag indicating target modality and emphasis level.
