Elszívók

Elszívók, commonly known as range hoods or extractor hoods, are kitchen appliances designed to remove airborne grease, combustion products, fumes, smoke, heat, and steam from the air by evacuation of the air and filtration. They are typically installed above the cooktop or stove in a kitchen. The primary function of an elszívó is to improve indoor air quality and reduce the buildup of grease and odors on kitchen surfaces and cabinets.

Elszívók work by drawing in air from the cooking area through a filter. These filters are usually made of metal mesh or charcoal. Metal filters trap grease particles and can often be washed. Charcoal filters, used in recirculating systems, absorb odors and need to be replaced periodically. After passing through the filters, the air is either vented outdoors through ductwork or recirculated back into the kitchen.

There are several types of elszívók. Ducted systems expel the air outside the building, which is generally more effective at removing pollutants. Ductless or recirculating systems filter the air and return it to the kitchen. Under-cabinet elszívók are mounted directly beneath kitchen cabinets. Island elszívók are mounted to the ceiling above a kitchen island. Chimney elszívók are wall-mounted and have a chimney-like structure. Downdraft elszívók are integrated into the cooktop and rise when needed.

The effectiveness of an elszívó is often measured in its airflow capacity, typically expressed in cubic feet per minute (CFM). Proper sizing and installation are crucial for optimal performance. Regular cleaning and maintenance, particularly of the filters, are essential to ensure the elszívó functions efficiently and hygienically.
