Elmotorns, also known as electric motor, is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. This conversion is achieved through the interaction of magnetic fields and electric currents. Electric motors are a fundamental component in countless modern technologies, powering everything from household appliances to industrial machinery and electric vehicles.

The basic principle behind an electric motor involves the force exerted on a current-carrying conductor when it is placed in a magnetic field. This force, described by the Lorentz force law, causes rotation. In a typical DC motor, electromagnets or permanent magnets create a stationary magnetic field, while a rotor with windings carries the electric current. As current flows through the rotor's coils, it experiences a torque, causing it to spin. A commutator and brushes are often used to reverse the current direction in the rotor coils at appropriate times, ensuring continuous rotation. AC motors operate on similar principles but utilize alternating current, often employing induction or synchronous mechanisms for rotation.

Electric motors are categorized by their power source (DC or AC), construction, and operating principles. Common types include brushed DC motors, brushless DC motors, induction motors, and synchronous motors. The choice of motor depends heavily on the application's requirements, such as torque, speed, efficiency, and cost. Their widespread adoption is due to their high efficiency, reliability, and ability to provide precise control over speed and torque.
