Elezen

Elezen are a tall, slender, long-lived humanoid race in Final Fantasy XIV. They are one of the playable races in the game and are noted for their refined features, pointed ears, and stately demeanor. The two Elezen subraces—Wildwood Elezen and Duskwight Elezen—occupy different cultural niches within Eorzean society.

Wildwood Elezen dwell primarily in forested regions and tend to have fair or sun-kissed complexions. Duskwight Elezen historically live in the dusky caverns and tunnels below the surface; they are commonly depicted with paler skin and distinctive eyes. Both subraces share a common ancestry but have diverged culturally due to their environments and histories.

Historically, Elezen are portrayed as aristocratic, scholarly, and martial-minded, with strong traditions of etiquette, literature, and governance. The Wildwood lineage emphasizes harmony with nature and woodland communities, while the Duskwight lineage often explores underground cultures and survivors' narratives. Lifespan is longer than many other races, and Elezen society tends toward formal social norms and long-term planning.

In gameplay, Elezen characters can be created by players of any gender and race, with selectable subraces. They appear across various storylines and expansions, serving as diplomats, knights, rangers, scholars, and adventurers within the wider world of Hydaelyn. The Elezen lore connects to broader Eorzean history through interactions with other races and city-states, including the ongoing events of the game’s world-building.
