Eid al-Fitr, often abbreviated as Eid, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The festival marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. The word "Eid" means festival or feast in Arabic, and "al-Fitr" means breaking the fast. This celebration signifies a period of joy, gratitude, and community.

Preparations for Eid al-Fitr typically begin in the final days of Ramadan. Muslims often clean their homes, buy new clothes, and prepare special foods and sweets to share with family and friends. On the morning of Eid, Muslims gather for congregational prayers, known as Salat al-Eid. This prayer is performed in large open spaces or mosques and is followed by a sermon.

After the prayers, Muslims exchange greetings and visit each other's homes, sharing meals and gifts. Charity is also an integral part of Eid al-Fitr. Muslims are encouraged to give Zakat al-Fitr, a mandatory charitable donation, to the poor and needy before the Eid prayers. This ensures that everyone can participate in the festivities. The holiday is a time for forgiveness, strengthening familial bonds, and expressing thanks to God for the blessings received during Ramadan. The festivities can last for up to three days, depending on the region.
