Ehkäisypillerit, commonly known as birth control pills, are a form of hormonal contraception taken orally. They contain synthetic versions of hormones, primarily estrogen and progestin, which work by preventing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to block sperm, and thinning the uterine lining to make implantation less likely.
