Ecadherinilmentymän refers to the absence or significant reduction of E-cadherin in a cellular context. E-cadherin is a crucial protein that plays a vital role in cell-cell adhesion, particularly in epithelial tissues. It belongs to the cadherin family of transmembrane glycoproteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion. This adhesion is essential for maintaining tissue structure, integrity, and preventing cell migration.

The loss or downregulation of E-cadherin expression is a hallmark of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process where epithelial cells lose their characteristic features and acquire migratory and invasive properties.
