Eastphalia is a federal state located in the eastern part of the fictional nation of Altenwald. It covers about 25,000 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 2.2 million. The capital is Hohenstadt, while Stadtwald serves as the largest city and economic center. Osthafen is a coastal town that handles much of the region’s freight.

Geography and environment: The western edge of Eastphalia is marked by the Durn foothills, with broad river valleys carved by the Simar River running through the interior. The eastern portion comprises fertile plains and small settlements near the coast. The climate is temperate maritime, with moderate rainfall and relatively mild winters.

History: Eastphalia traces its roots to medieval duchies that governed the eastern frontier of the early state. The region was incorporated into Altenwald during the late 18th century and later reorganized as a federated state following mid-20th-century constitutional reforms. Its regional assembly and executive administration formalized the contemporary governance structure.

Politics and governance: Eastphalia is a parliamentary democracy within Altenwald. The state is governed by a Landtag (regional assembly) and an executive council led by a Regierungschef (governor). Elections are held every four years, and the political landscape typically features multiple parties with coalitions common at the regional level.
