EUOSHA

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) is an agency of the European Union dedicated to improving working conditions across its member states. Established in 1994, EU-OSHA is headquartered in Bilbao, Spain, and serves as a center for information, knowledge exchange, and policy support on occupational safety and health (OSH).

The agency collects, analyzes, and disseminates data and best practices on OSH. It provides targeted information and technical support to EU institutions and national authorities, helps coordinate policy initiatives, and maintains an OSH information portal and knowledge resources that are accessible to workers, employers, and policymakers.

EU-OSHA runs and oversees European campaigns to promote safe and healthy workplaces, such as the Healthy Workplaces campaigns. It also conducts assessments and disseminates practical guidance on risk prevention, risk management, and worker participation in safety programs.

Governance is provided by a management board with representatives from EU member states and social partners, operating under the EU budget framework. Its work is aligned with the EU's internal market and social policy objectives and supported by national authorities and partner organizations.

By linking research, policy, and practice, EU-OSHA supports safer workplaces across sectors and countries, helping to monitor progress toward EU OSH objectives and to inform legislation, standards, and enforcement.
