ENTSOE

ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, is a European association of national electricity transmission system operators from European countries. Created in 2009 as the successor to ETSO, its remit is to coordinate operation and planning of the continent's electricity transmission network, support a single European electricity market, and enhance security of supply, reliability, and cross-border efficiency.

Its core activities include developing EU-wide network codes and guidelines, and preparing the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) with input from stakeholders, regulators, and the public. ENTSO-E also collects and publishes grid data, coordinates cross-border operational processes, and supports market integration and the integration of renewable energy through planning and innovation initiatives.

The governance structure comprises a plenary assembly of member TSOs, an executive body, and technical and stakeholder committees. The organization collaborates with the European Commission, ACER, national regulators, and market participants to implement network codes and planning requirements. ENTSO-E thus plays a central role in Europe’s electricity system and energy transition.
