ACER

Acer is a genus of flowering trees and shrubs in the family Sapindaceae, commonly known as maples. There are roughly 130 species native to temperate regions across the Northern Hemisphere, including parts of Asia, Europe, and North America. Maples are typically deciduous, with leaves that are often palmately lobed and simple, and they produce winged seeds called samaras. The genus is valued for ornamental use in landscapes and for ecological roles in forests. Several species, most notably the sugar maple (Acer saccharum), are associated with the production of maple syrup, while others provide timber or are used as ornamental trees.
