Dynastians are a term used in fiction and world-building to describe the people associated with a dynastic state or ruling dynasty. There is no widely recognized real-world polity by this exact name; the term functions as a demonym for inhabitants of a political order in which hereditary succession concentrates political authority within a ruling house.

In conceptual use, Dynastians are defined by their relation to the dynasty rather than to a particular nation. The concept emphasizes lineage, continuity, and legitimacy transmitted through the ruling line.

Society and culture: The social order centers on noble lineages and courtly institutions. A Dynastian state typically features a central bureaucracy, a standing army, and ceremonial traditions tied to the dynasty's legitimacy. Succession is usually hereditary, with practices such as primogeniture or seniority shaping political power and factional politics within the ruling family.

Government and law: The dynastic regime concentrates authority in the monarch or ruling house, supported by councils, ministers, and aristocratic estates. Legitimacy may derive from divine favor, ancestral compact, or historical contract, and disputes over succession can provoke regencies, civil strife, or reforms.

Culture and language: Dynastian culture often foregrounds heraldry, oath-taking, and dynastic rites. A Dynastian language or dialect, script, or liturgy may accompany state identity, though in many settings the population uses a common regional language.

In literature and scholarship, Dynastians are used to examine questions of legitimacy, governance, and the tensions between hereditary rule and modernization. The concept serves as a narrative and analytical tool for exploring dynastic politics without tying to a specific real-world polity.
