Dwyryd
The Dwyryd, or Afon Dwyryd, is a river in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It rises in upland areas on the southern edge of Snowdonia and flows generally westward through a rural landscape of farmland and moorland before reaching Tremadog Bay on the Cardigan Bay coast. The lower stretch forms the Dwyryd Estuary, a tidal system that opens into the coast near Portmeirion and the town of Porthmadog. The river's catchment includes several small tributaries and drains a landscape that has historically supported farming, forestry, and quarrying in the surrounding hills.
The estuary provides important wildlife habitat and is used by birds and other aquatic life. Species commonly
