Dwadashi
Dwadashi is a tithi, or lunar day, in the Hindu lunisolar calendar. It is the twelfth tithi of the waxing or waning phase of the moon. There are two Dwadashi tithis in each lunar month: Shukla Paksha Dwadashi (the twelfth day of the bright half of the moon) and Krishna Paksha Dwadashi (the twelfth day of the dark half of the moon). Each Dwadashi is considered auspicious and often dedicated to specific deities or observances. For instance, Vaikuntha Dwadashi, observed during Shukla Paksha, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is considered a significant day for fasting and prayer. Similarly, others like Bhaum Pradosh Dwadashi, which falls on a Tuesday, hold particular importance. The specific observances and rituals associated with Dwadashi can vary across different regions and traditions within Hinduism. Astrologically, Dwadashi is believed to influence various aspects of life, and its effects are often considered when planning important events. The timing of Dwadashi, like all tithis, is determined by the position of the moon relative to the sun.
