Dunesfolk

Dunesfolk is a term used to refer to a clan of the Lalafell race in the world of Eorzea, the setting for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV. They are one of two primary Lalafell clans, the other being the Plainsfolk. The Dunesfolk are distinguished by their ancestral home in the arid region of Thanalan, particularly around the city-state of Ul'dah.

Physically, Dunesfolk Lalafell are characterized by their dark skin tones, which have adapted to the harsh, sun-scorched environment of the desert. Another notable physical trait is their heterochromatic eyes, where each eye is a different color. This feature is common among the clan and contributes to their distinct appearance.

Culturally, the Dunesfolk are known for their shrewdness and mercantile prowess. Their society, shaped by the mercantile hub of Ul'dah, places a high value on commerce, negotiation, and accumulation of wealth. This has led to a reputation for being calculating and business-minded, though many Dunesfolk would describe these traits as simple pragmatism necessary for survival in a competitive environment. Their history is deeply intertwined with the monetarists and the sultanate of Ul'dah. Many of the city's most influential traders, bankers, and politicians are of Dunesfolk heritage. Despite a perceived coldness in business matters, Dunesfolk families are known to be tightly-knit and protective of their own. They have a rich tradition of oral storytelling and place great importance on family lineage and legacy.
