Duisenberg refers to the Duesenberg Motors Company, an American manufacturer of luxury automobiles. Founded in 1913 by brothers August and Frederick Duesenberg, the company was known for its high-performance and luxurious vehicles. Duesenberg cars were characterized by their powerful engines, advanced engineering, and opulent styling, making them a symbol of wealth and status during the Roaring Twenties and into the Great Depression.

The company's most iconic model is the Duesenberg Model J, introduced in 1928. It featured a massive 420 cubic inch inline-eight engine, capable of producing 265 horsepower, a remarkable figure for its time. This engine allowed the Model J to achieve speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, an extraordinary feat for a vehicle of its size and weight. The Model J was offered in various body styles, often custom-built by renowned coachbuilders such as Millspugh & Harder, LaGrande, and Rollston.

Duesenberg cars were favored by celebrities, royalty, and the wealthy elite of the era, including actors, musicians, and business magnates. Owning a Duesenberg was a statement of success and discerning taste. Despite their prestige, the company struggled financially, particularly with the onset of the Great Depression. The high cost of production and the diminished purchasing power of potential buyers led to the eventual demise of the Duesenberg Motors Company in 1937, with production ceasing. Today, Duesenbergs are highly sought-after collector cars, prized for their historical significance, engineering prowess, and enduring beauty.
