Drukgegevens

Drukgegevens is a Dutch term used in publishing to refer to the information about the production and printing of a publication. These data describe who produced, printed, and distributed the work, and often appear on the colophon or imprint page of a book, magazine, or report. The term can also extend to the technical specifications used in printing and reproduction.

Typical drukgegevens include the publisher or imprint, the printer, the place and year of printing, the edition or print run, the format and page count, the type of paper and its weight, the binding method, and the language. Identification numbers such as ISBN or ISSN, and information about the rights holder or copyright year may be listed. In printed products intended for sale, the data also sometimes include the print run size and the distribution country or number of copies. These details help bibliographic tracking, rights management, and quality control.

In modern production workflows, drukgegevens may also cover prepress and production specifications used by printers and service providers, such as color model (for example CMYK), file format, font embedding, bleed and trim marks, and any special finishes. While colofon is an older term frequently used interchangeably with drukgegevens in Dutch publishing, both refer to the set of production details that accompany the main text. Accurate drukgegevens facilitate cataloging, provenance, and reproducibility of printed materials across formats and editions.
