Distansmått

Distansmått is a Swedish term that translates to "distance measure" or "metric" in English. It refers to a function that quantifies the distance between two points in a given space. This concept is fundamental in various fields, including mathematics, computer science, and physics.

In mathematics, a distance measure is formally defined as a function d(x, y) that satisfies several properties. These properties typically include non-negativity (the distance is always zero or positive), identity of indiscernibles (the distance between two points is zero if and only if they are the same point), symmetry (the distance from x to y is the same as the distance from y to x), and the triangle inequality (the distance from x to z is less than or equal to the sum of the distances from x to y and from y to z).
