Dikemas

Dikemas is an Indonesian term that means "packaged" or "put into packaging." It is the passive form of the verb kemas, formed with the prefix di- to indicate that the action is performed on the object. In ordinary and commercial usage, dikemas describes a product that has undergone packaging and is ready for distribution or sale.

In labeling, inventory, and logistics, dikemas signals that packaging has been completed. The word is often contrasted with phrases such as belum dikemas or belum kemas (not yet packaged) and terkemas, which can imply a state of being packaged or being wrapped. Examples include "Produk ini telah dikemas untuk pengiriman" or "Barang telah berada dalam keadaan dikemas."

Packaging practice is typically organized into stages: primary packaging (the immediate container), secondary packaging (outer packaging like cartons), and tertiary packaging (for transport and handling). Dikemas generally applies after these steps are completed, indicating readiness for storage, display, or dispatch.

Standards and quality requirements govern packaging content and labeling. Companies must ensure that packaging materials protect the product, convey required information, and comply with regulatory rules related to safety, handling, and traceability.

Environmental considerations influence packaging design and execution. Increasingly, dikemas workflows favor sustainable materials, recyclability, and minimized waste, with efforts toward reusable packaging and reduced plastic use.
