In German-language texts, diameterbasierte Methoden or Ansätze are used to denote approaches whose key constraint or measure is the diameter, the greatest distance between any two points in a given set.

Formally, the diameter of a set in a metric space is the supremum of pairwise distances between its elements. In graph theory, the diameter is the maximum shortest-path distance between any pair of vertices. Diameterbasierte approaches thus rely on this notion to quantify cohesion, spread, or reach within data, networks, or geometric configurations. The concept can be applied to continuous spaces, discrete graphs, or high-dimensional datasets.
