Defensives

Defensives is a plural term used across disciplines to describe elements oriented toward protection rather than offense. In everyday usage, it can refer to groups of players assigned to stop opponents, defensive tactics, or protective measures to counter threats. The term is not a single specialized field, but a general descriptor for protective roles and actions.

In team sports, defensives refer to players or units whose primary objective is to prevent scoring. In soccer, defenders form the backline; in basketball, the defense aims to disrupt opponents; in American football, defensive backs, linemen, and linebackers defend the end zone; in hockey, defensemen protect the goal area.
