Declenchement

Declenchement (often written déclenchement in French) is the noun used to describe the act of triggering or initiating a process, event, or response. In French, the standard spelling is déclenchement; in English technical writing, the term is sometimes adopted without diacritics to denote the moment a sequence begins, usually in response to a stimulus, condition, or decision.

In medical contexts, déclenchement du travail refers to labor induction, the deliberate initiation of childbirth by medical means. The term also appears to describe the onset of symptoms or disease activity when a factor or treatment precipitates a flare.
