Datenseite

Datenseite is a term used in information technology to denote a discrete page or entry that presents data. It usually refers to a unit within a larger data repository, catalog, or content management system. A Datenseite combines descriptive metadata with the data values themselves and is addressed by a stable URL.

A Datenseite typically contains: a title and an identifier; metadata such as author, date of creation, license, provenance; data fields with types and units; relationships to related records; access controls and rights information; and a data availability statement. Many Datenseiten provide downloadable representations of the data (for example CSV or JSON) and may offer previews, visualizations, or APIs to access the data programmatically.

Examples: a Datenseite for a manuscript in a library might display bibliographic metadata, a link to a digital surrogate, OCR text, and license; a Datenseite for a research dataset would list variables, units, sampling method, DOI, license, and data files.
