Databaseposter

Databaseposter is a term used in information technology to refer to a software component, module, or occasionally a person, responsible for publishing data sourced from one or more databases to external systems, services, or audiences. The term is not standardized in database literature but appears in project documentation and colloquial usage to describe data dissemination activities.

Functions: A databaseposter watches for data changes or executes queries, converts results into interoperable formats such as JSON, XML, or CSV, and transmits the payload through a channel such as HTTP(S) endpoints, message queues, FTP, or dashboards. It may support incremental updates, batch exports, or event-driven push based on database triggers. Security controls include authentication, authorization, encryption, and access logging.

Architecture: Implementations vary; common designs include a microservice that connects to the database and a delivery layer, integration with ETL/ELT tools, or stored procedures combined with external schedulers. Key components are a data connector, a formatter/serializer, a transport mechanism, and a policy module for retry, rate limiting, and data governance.

Use cases: distributing product catalog changes to partner systems, publishing anonymized user statistics to analytic platforms, or feeding external BI dashboards with refreshed data. The concept emphasizes reliable data delivery, data format compatibility, and governance of sensitive information.
