DR4associated
DR4associated is an adjective used in genetics and immunology to describe diseases or conditions in which the HLA-DR4 allele or the DR4-related haplotype confers an increased risk or association. The term appears in discussions of autoimmune predisposition and genetic association studies. HLA-DR4 is a class II major histocompatibility complex molecule involved in presenting peptides to CD4+ T cells, and certain DR4 alleles, particularly the DRB1*04 family, carry motifs associated with autoimmune responses.
Clinical associations commonly cited as DR4associated include rheumatoid arthritis, especially seropositive forms with anti-CCP antibodies, and
Interpretation of DR4association has practical implications for research and, to a limited extent, risk assessment. Genetic
