DNSszennyezés

DNSszennyezés, also known as DNS cache poisoning or DNS spoofing, is a type of cyberattack where false DNS data is introduced into a domain name system's cache. This redirects users to malicious websites instead of the legitimate ones they intended to visit. The attacker exploits vulnerabilities in the DNS resolution process to trick a DNS server into accepting and storing incorrect information.

When a user requests access to a website, their computer queries a DNS server to translate the human-readable domain name (like example.com) into a machine-readable IP address. If the DNS server's cache has been poisoned, it will provide the attacker's IP address instead of the correct one. This can lead to a variety of malicious activities, including phishing attacks, malware distribution, and man-in-the-middle attacks.

The consequences of DNSszennyezés can be severe, ranging from financial loss and identity theft to the compromise of sensitive data. To mitigate this threat, organizations employ various security measures. These include using secure DNS protocols like DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions), which digitally signs DNS records to verify their authenticity, and implementing strong access controls and monitoring on DNS servers.
