DIutgångar

DIutgångar, often written DI-utgångar, are digital outputs in electronics and automation that provide discrete voltage or current signals to drive actuators and indicators. They are the counterpart to digital inputs (DI) and are controlled by a control system such as a microcontroller or PLC. Each channel represents a binary state: on or off.

They come in two main types: transistor (solid-state) outputs and relay outputs. Transistor outputs can be NPN/PNP or sourcing/sinking configurations; relay outputs use an electromechanical relay. In many industrial systems, outputs operate at a standard supply, commonly 24 V DC, with device load connected to external power.

Electrical characteristics: Voltage levels and current capabilities vary by module. Typical voltages: 5, 12, or 24 V DC; per-channel current ranges from a few tens of milliamperes for LED indicators to hundreds of milliamperes for small coils, and higher for relay coils via external supply. Isolation: many DI-utgångs modules provide opto-isolation to protect the controller.

Applications and integration: DIutgångar are used to control actuators (solenoids, relays, valves), indicators, alarms, and safety interlocks. They are commonly grouped in I/O modules within PLCs or embedded systems, and are designed to work alongside digital inputs (DI) in a shared I/O bus or backplane.
