Cyanoramphus
Cyanoramphus is a genus of parakeets native to New Zealand. These birds are commonly known as New Zealand parakeets or kaka. The genus currently contains seven species, though some classifications may vary. Most Cyanoramphus species are characterized by their predominantly green plumage, often with splashes of red or yellow on their heads or bodies. They are typically medium-sized parakeets with long tails.
These birds inhabit a range of environments, from dense forests to more open scrubland and even islands.
Conservation efforts are underway for several Cyanoramphus species, including captive breeding programs and predator control initiatives.
