Countach

The Lamborghini Countach is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini from 1974 to 1990. The name "Countach" is a Piedmontese exclamation of astonishment, reflecting the car's striking appearance. Designed by Marcello Gandini, the Countach is renowned for its sharp, angular styling, scissor doors, and a low-slung profile, which became iconic of the supercar era.

Initially powered by a 4.0-liter V12 engine, the Countach's displacement and power output increased over its production run, culminating in a 5.2-liter unit in the final LP5000 QV and 25th Anniversary models. The car's performance was exceptional for its time, with top speeds often exceeding 180 mph. Its distinctive design featured a wide body, prominent air intakes, and a rear wing that became a signature element.

The Countach was built as a successor to the Lamborghini Miura and was produced in several iterations, including the LP400, LP400S, LP500S, LP5000 QV, and the 25th Anniversary edition. Despite its unconventional design and sometimes challenging ergonomics, the Countach achieved legendary status, influencing countless sports car designs and becoming a symbol of automotive excess and technological ambition during the late 20th century. It was replaced by the Lamborghini Diablo.
