Correcties

Correcties are changes intended to fix errors, improve accuracy, or update information across different domains, including texts, data sets, procedures, and software. They aim to restore validity and reliability of information and systems.

In Dutch, correctie means correction; correcties is the plural. The term is used widely in publishing, data management, IT, and research to describe edits and amendments that address identified issues.

In publishing and editing, correcties encompass proofreading edits, corrigenda, and errata, which may be applied during production or after publication. In data management, correcties refer to updating incorrect records, formulas, or metadata, often implemented through data cleaning and validation workflows with an audit trail.

In software, correcties take the form of bug fixes, patches, or hotfixes released to repair faults and improve reliability. In scientific publishing, a correction notice, called a corrigendum or erratum, may be issued to amend errors in a paper, distinct from a retraction.

Across domains, the correction process usually involves detection, verification, approval, implementation, and documentation, with emphasis on transparency and traceability through change logs and version control.
