Coriolisflowmåling

Coriolisflowmåling, often referred to as Coriolis flow measurement, is a method used to determine the mass flow rate of a fluid by measuring the Coriolis effect. This effect, a consequence of the Earth's rotation, describes the apparent deflection of moving objects when viewed from a rotating frame of reference. In the context of flow measurement, fluid flowing through a vibrating tube experiences a deflection due to inertial forces.

The Coriolis flowmeter typically consists of a vibrating tube or tubes through which the fluid passes. As the fluid moves, it experiences an inertial force that causes it to lag behind the vibration of the tube. This lag results in a twist or phase shift in the tube's vibration, which is proportional to the mass flow rate of the fluid. Sensors are strategically placed to detect this twist or phase shift.

By measuring the degree of this twist, the Coriolis flowmeter can accurately calculate the mass flow rate of the fluid without the need for calibration based on fluid density or viscosity. This makes it a versatile instrument capable of measuring a wide range of liquids and gases, including those with varying densities, viscosities, and flow conditions.

Coriolis flowmeters are known for their high accuracy and reliability. They are commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals where precise mass flow measurement is critical for process control, custody transfer, and inventory management. The technology is less sensitive to changes in fluid properties, pressure, and temperature compared to other flow measurement methods.
